I’m excited to introduce Maggie, our first xoBeautiful project reveal. Maggie was photographed at the Galloway House in Fond du Lac.
A wedding dress serves as a powerful tool. To many it is a symbol, a tradition, a right of passage, a leap, and definitely a start to a new journey. I got married to my best friend after dating through high school, having our first child at 18, struggling to be a parent, a student, and a partner. Times get good and times get hard. You have this person that you each wanted to walk beside though it all. It’s an amazing and powerful thing. So when I saw a post about getting to wear my wedding dress and take beautiful pictures I wanted to do it! I was honored to have Jen select me among some pretty incredible women. A few years ago during one of those “hard” times I put my dress on a resale website because I figured I could use the money and I wasn’t going to wear it again, right? The thought of never being able to carry on any part of a tradition or have a symbol of the most amazing decision I have ever made forced me to take my dress off the website. I was over the moon to put my dress on for this photoshoot and relive the feelings I felt when I got to wear it for real 5 years ago. As an added bonus, I cannot wait to reveal this whole thing to my husband who is completely in the dark about pretty much everything up to this point. I’m so excited. Thank you Jen for everything!
As you may remember from my first post, I mentioned that I had loved ones fill out a fun survey about each lady. Maggie’s sister, Sara filled this one out for her.
Describe her in 4 words or less: Classy, Smart, Radiant, Feisty
Why do you feel she needs this day to feel beautiful and be a model for the day? To remember who she is outside of being a mom. Maggie works very hard from the very early morning until well after the sun goes down. She puts her kids, husband and work before herself. She is one of the most selfless people I know and sometimes I don’t think she realizes how amazing she is.
When were you most proud of her? There are too many times to pick just one- She has beaten the odds and has driven towards success in everything she does. Maggie’s life has not been easy and she has had road blocks in almost everything she has set out to do. Instead of giving up she perseveres and pushes through. With every time she demonstrates such grace and class.
Does she have any hidden talents/funny personality traits? Maggie has the ability to multitask like no other.
What makes her special? Her heart, she gives without question and is never asking for anything in return.
What do you wish for her in life? I wish for much love and happiness in her life and that she will always be surrounded by the ones she loves.
Does she have any nicknames? We used to call her Mowgli, just like the jungle book. Maggie was a skinny little runt and had a thick head of hair but she was mighty and still is. We used to say she had to make up for her size. I love her feisty spirit!
And of course, I wanted to hear all the fun details from her wedding!
We got married 4-24-10 in a Catholic Church in Oconto, Wisconsin. Our reception was at The Ravine in Green Bay. If I could do that day over everyday I probably would. It was perfect and amazing. Our five year anniversary is this year and if I can do this and surprise my husband with some fun fabulous photography…well that would be the icing on the cake of an incredible first five years!
