I’m excited to introduce Jericho, our second xoBeautiful project reveal. Jericho was photographed at a Luxurious Door County Waterfront Homes.

Jericho’s Story

I applied for this shoot on a whim. I had just been looking through my pictures and at my dress hanging in its bag, reminiscing about our beautiful wedding day and how quickly time flies! I saw the post on Facebook about this shoot, it was New Years Day, and I felt like it was a sign to just contact you and see what happened!  This shoot is also special to me because at the time of our planning, all I really wanted to do was marry Luke!  I dreamed about the day that I would get married and oddly, I knew I would marry Luke when I was 14 years old.  We dated for a 8 years before we got engaged.  And after all that time I was still shocked and totally surprised when he popped the question.  We had a quick engagement, only 5 months. With my main focus being that I started this next chapter of life with my husband.  I wasn’t too concerned about a big fancy wedding, I wanted it to be intimate and about celebrating our marriage.  We had a budget and with the short time we had to plan, we chose not to hire a wedding photographer for our day.  My uncle and a special family friend did our photos on that day. I’m happy with my photos, they document our day wonderfully.  I think having the opportunity to wear my dress again and enjoy the memory of my day without the stress of the actual day is something that every bride should have the opportunity to do!  I am so blessed to have been chosen and hopefully get a photo that my uncle or friend didn’t capture.

As you may remember from my first post, I mentioned that I had loved ones fill out a fun survey about each lady. Jericho’s Mom, Lea Ann filled this one out for her. It brought me to tears. Seriously sobbing tears. Lea Ann, you are truly an amazing woman who raised such a wonderful daughter.

Describe her in 4 words or less: Sensitive, loving, smart, compassionate

Why do you feel she needs this day to feel beautiful and be a model for the day? She deserves to be pampered for so many reasons. She got engaged and planned a wedding in 5 months. Everything was perfect, she made it a magical day. She used her uncle and family friend for amateur photographers and they did an awesome job, but it will be so amazing to see some professional shots of her. She is so beautiful and looked so gorgeous on her wedding day. Jericho works hard and always puts others first. She has been the most amazing daughter and she is very much loved by everyone.
When were you most proud of her? That is a difficult question. I am over-the-top proud of her every single moment of her life. The past 31 years of calling her my daughter makes me the proudest mom ever!!!! I really cannot single out a specific incident.

Does she have any hidden talents/funny personality traits? Jericho is a gifted sign language interpreter. Her skills are superb. She is also a very crafty young woman. She loves to do artsy projects. She loves to read. She is a bit of a story-teller. She loves to laugh and had has a wonderful sense of humor. She is a child-magnet, kids are drawn to her.
What makes her special? Our relationship has always been incredible. She is my touchstone in all areas of life. I know your children aren’t supposed to necessarily be your friends, but she is my very best friend. She is the one I turn to for everything, and I am there for her in that same capacity. She is loyal, loving, dedicated and thoughtful.

What is her dream job? I believe she is living that dream. Since she was a very young girl she was interested in sign language, and she pursued it to the job she has now. She loves her job and her student and the school-community she works in. I am so happy she followed her dream.

Does she have any nicknames? She was called Coco as a child and some people still call her that today.

If she could spend a day with any band/musical artist who would it be and why? Her and Luke are going to see the Foo Fighters this summer. So, I would say, the Foo Fighters or possibly Michael Buble, she has been to many concerts of his, but she has been to a lot of other concerts, too. Again, I’m just guessing.

And of course, I wanted to hear all the fun details from her wedding!

We were married in June 27, 2014 at The Marq in Depere. Both our wedding ceremony and reception were held at this location. We wanted a night time wedding that was unique and relaxed.   Our decor was simple, black iron candle holders of all shapes and sizes and tons of candles scattered all over the reception hall and bar.  We didn’t have a cake, instead we set out candy dishes on every table with either mine or Luke’s favorite treats.  We also had ice cream mini cakes and Dilly Bars from Dairy Queen.   We started out the evening at 6:00pm for cocktails and appetizers. At 7:15 our guest were moved outdoors to our wedding ceremony in front of the gazebo. Luke’s uncle and a friend of mine sang as people were being seated.  I walked down the isle as they sang Somewhere Over the Rainbow/What a Wonderful World.  We opted to not have a wedding party and keep the day about us and our life together.  I had chosen 20 people that have known me the longest or had a special part of me or us as a couple and we used them to build my bouquet.  Each person or couple was given a flower at the beginning of the night and then at the ceremony my sister collected them all and handed them to me before my dad and I walked down the isle to Luke.  It was very special.  We could not have asked for better weather or the to have the sun be in the most perfect spot at that time.  We decorated the trees and shepards hooks down the isle with handmade mirror and bead strings.  They were very sparkly in the sun!   After the ceremony, we all moved back inside for several buffet tables with a variety of foods like nachos, sliders, pizza and hamburgers along with other fun easy to eat foods.  Our guests could eat whenever they wanted and had the night to enjoy the food and dancing. We are very non traditional and this event was very different from any wedding I’ve been part of, it truly was the best day!   Someone told me that our wedding was the best wedding they had ever been to and that they will always remember it, that was such a crazy and awesome feeling after all that planning!
